Surely not, because in an ideal nation citizens must live in peace and harmony, enjoying equal rights. The government has a major role to play in this regard as social security is a necessity, not a luxury.
But the current scenario of Indian society presents a different reality. Increasing cases of rapes, murders, riots, and people protesting for their rights raises a big question on the government’s functionality. Ever wondered why we lag behind other nations in terms of Human Development Index, Happiness Index, etc. That is because of the lack of social security in our country.
This problem of social security is not new. In the past too, great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Raja Rammohun Roy, etc fought for the rights of the underprivileged. But this problem still persists despite the best efforts of these great men. Understanding the gravity of the problem, the government took several measures to counter it.
