Essay Egoism provokes domestic violence: SSC CHSL Tier 2

Domestic violence, one of the greatest taboos of any society, blatantly continues to exist. Domestic violence can be physical, verbal, emotional, religious, economic, or sexual abuse. It ranges from hurling abuses to marital rape, from shoving to burning, etc. Various reasons can be attributed to domestic violence such as low self-esteem, jealousy, mood swings, loss of temper, alcoholism but the most brutal is egoism.

‘Egoism’ is a feeling when a person driven by self-obsession and self-interest becomes apathetic towards the suffering of others. The person hardly cares that his gesture or attitude is wreaking havoc on his partner. Domestic violence occurs everywhere and in every relationship especially where love, care, affection are subsumed by egoism.
