Man has defeated all odds and conquered the world in his journey to development. In his blind obsession for development and technological advancement, he has severely damaged the environment and caused environmental problems like global warming, pollution, etc. The epicenter of this web of problems is deforestation.
Deforestation is defined as the clearing of forests by humans to make the land available for other uses. Deforestation can involve the conversion of forest land to farms, ranches, or urban use.
The primary cause of deforestation is agriculture. Trees are cut down for use as building material or sold as fuel, while cleared land is used as pasture for livestock and farming. Other causes of deforestation include population growth and urbanization. Both of these increase pressure on land and resources and thus led to indiscriminate chopping down of trees.
