• The Forest and Environment Department of the Odisha Government has launched two mobile applications; Mo Jungle and Know Your Forest Land. 

• These two apps are a part of the 5T Initiative of the Odisha Government and aim at enhancing transparency in governance.

• With the ‘Mo Jungle’ app, the department officials can keep a track of all afforestation programmes of the Government at their fingertips. 

• These programmes can be monitored and executed at ease besides, the general public can also get information about all these projects.

• Similarly, by using the ‘Know Your Forest Land’ app one can get all information about right utilisation and development of forest land in Odisha.

• These two mobile apps have been developed with the technical collaboration of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Odisha IT and GIS Cell, and Odisha Space Applications Centre (ORSAC). 

• The apps are available on Google Playstore and Apple App Store.

• The day is important to create awareness about the importance of wetlands. The wetlands provide habitat to several species, acts as a buffer zone against flooding and storms.

• A committee under the chairmanship of KF Rustamji recommended establishing a Coast Guard type organization in its report of 1975. The committee was set up in 1974.

• Fourth Prime Minister Morarji Desai formally inaugurated the Indian Coast Guard on 19 August 1978.

• Its headquarters are in New Delhi. It has five regional headquarters at Mumbai, Chennai, Gandhi Nagar, Kolkata and Port Blair.

• It functions under the Ministry of Defence. Krishnaswamy Natarajan is the current Director-General of the Indian Coast Guard
