• Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled Economic Survey 2020-21 in the Parliament on January 29, 2021.  The survey is generally presented a day before the Union Budget. This year, the survey is being presented earlier because the day-before-budget is a Sunday.

• The Economic Survey 2020-21 has been dedicated to all the COVID-19 warriors, who have really helped in upholding India.

• The real growth rate for (Financial Year)FY21 has been taken as -7.7% (MoSPI) in Economic Survey 2020-21 and the real growth rate for FY22 is assumed as 11.5 % based on IMF estimates.

• The economy was witnessing a 'V-shaped' recovery

• This year's economic survey is being delivered in an e-book format. The Finance Ministry has also launched an official Economic Survey app for smooth access to the document.

• The appointments committee (ACC) of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Swaminathan Janakiraman and Ashwini Kumar Tewari as new Managing Directors (MDs) of State Bank of India (SBI) for a period of three years. 

• Prior to this, Swaminathan Janakiraman was the deputy managing director (Finance) at SBI and Ashwini Kumar Tewari was serving as MD & CEO of SBI Card, a subsidiary of SBI.

• SBI is headed by a Chairman and four managing directors. Dinesh Kumar Khara is the current Chairman of the bank. 
• The other two MDs of the bank are C.S. Setty and Ashwani Bhatia. The two posts were vacant since October 2020.

• The Economic Survey 2020-21 has noted that access to ‘bare necessities’ has improved across all states in the country in 2018 as compared to 2012. 

• Inequalities in access to bare necessities like drinking water, sanitation, hygiene and housing conditions continue to exist between urban and rural India despite “widespread” improvements in each of these aspects, the Economic Survey for 2020-21 has shown, using a newly constructed “Bare Necessities Index”

• The access is highest in states such as Kerala, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat while lowest in Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Tripura.

• केन्द्रीय वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने 29 जनवरी 2021 को संसद में आर्थिक समीक्षा, 2020-21 (Economic Survey 2020-21) पेश किया। 

• आर्थिक सर्वेक्षण 2020-21 ने पेयजल, स्वच्छता,  और आवास  जैसी जरूरतो की पहुंच में असमानताएं दर्शाने के लिए एक नए सूचकांक Bare Necessities इंडेक्स का निर्माण किया है|

• शहरी और ग्रामीण भारत के बीच असमानताएं मौजूद हैं|
•  केरल, पंजाब, हरियाणा और गुजरात जैसे राज्यों में सबसे अधिक समानता है जबकि ओडिशा, झारखंड, पश्चिम बंगाल और त्रिपुरा में सबसे कम है।
• The BNI summarises 26 indicators on five dimensions — water, sanitation, housing, micro-environment, and other facilities — and has been created for all states for 2012 and 2018 using NSO data.

• The documents were released containing the ways and means to promote the inter-sectoral action for conservation.

• These two documents highlight actions to be taken for handling stranded animals on shore, management actions for improved coordination, enhancing people’s participation, advance scientific research and exchange of information on marine mammals and marine turtles and their habitats.

• पर्यावरण, वन और जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने  नई दिल्ली में समुद्री मेगा जीव श्रृ्ंखला के दिशा-निर्देश और राष्ट्रीय समुद्री कछुआ कार्य योजना का दस्‍तावेज जारी किया।
