भारत ने हाल ही में त्सो कर (Tso Kar)  वेटलैंड कॉम्प्लेक्स को अपने 42वीं रामसर साइट के रूप में जोड़ा है। यह लद्दाख में दूसरी रामसर साइट है।

• त्सो कर बेसिन एक उच्च ऊंचाई वाले आर्द्रभूमि क्षेत्र में स्थित है। 

• इसमें दो मुख्य जल क्षेत्र शामिल हैं। 

1.Startsapuk Tso, दक्षिण में 438 हेक्टेयर की एक मीठे पानी की झील है। 

2.Tso Kar झील 1800 हेक्टेयर की एक अत्याधिक लवणीय झील है।

• बर्ड लाइफ इंटरनेशनल के अनुसार त्सो कर बेसिन एक ‘A1 Category Important Bird Area’ है। यह मध्य एशियाई फ्लाईवे में एक महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है। इसके अलावा, यह स्थान भारत में ब्लैक नेक्ड क्रैंस का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण प्रजनन क्षेत्र है।
• इसे तशो कर झील भी कहा जाता है। यह रूपुशू पठार में स्थित एक उतार-चढ़ाव वाली खारे पानी की झील है।

• India has added one more wetland, Tso Kar Wetland Complex in Ladakh, in its list of Ramsar sites under an international convention, meant for preserving ecological character of selected wetlands across the globe. 

• Tso Kar wetland is India 42nd Ramsar site and the second in the UT of Ladakh.

• The aim of the Ramsar list is “to develop and maintain an international network of wetlands which are important for the conservation of global biological diversity and for sustaining human life through the maintenance of their ecosystem components, processes and benefits”.

• The Tso Kar Basin is a high-altitude wetland complex, consisting of two principal waterbodies, Startsapuk Tso, a freshwater lake of about 438 hectares to the south, and Tso Kar itself, a hypersaline lake of 1,800 hectares to the north, situated in the Changthang region of Ladakh.

REVISION:  The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change recently announced that the Lonar Lake in Maharashtra and Sur Sarovar lake in Uttar Pradesh have been added to the Ramsar sites. The Sur Sarovar lake is also called the Keetham lake.

• This is the first indigenously developed vaccine in the field of pneumonia.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual summit with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc during which both sides vowed to boost overall defence and security cooperation including in the maritime sphere.

• To motivate the States to undertake reforms in various citizen centric sectors, the Ministry of Finance has linked a part of additional borrowing permission granted to the States to completion of reforms.
