• India has assumed BRICS Presidency this year. 

• The prime agenda for the discussions were Promoting Social Security Agreements amongst BRICS Nations, Formalization of labour markets, Participation of women in labour force and Gig and platform workers – Role in labour market.

• Apart from representatives of member nations i.e Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, the representatives of International Labour Organization (ILO) and International Social Security Agency (ISSA) also made valuable interventions and suggestions on the agenda issues.

• ब्रिक्स रोजगार कार्य समूह (Employment Working Group) की पहली बैठक 2021 में वीडियो कांफ्रेसिंग के माध्यम से आयोजित की गई। यह बैठक भारत की अध्यक्षता में आयोजित की गई थी, जिसने 2021 में ब्रिक्स प्रेसीडेंसी संभाली है। बैठक की अध्यक्षता श्रम और रोजगार के सचिव श्री अपूर्व चंद्र ने की।

• बैठक के दौरान जिन मुख्य मुद्दों पर चर्चा की गई, वे थे: ब्रिक्स देशों के बीच सामाजिक सुरक्षा समझौतों को बढ़ावा देना, श्रम बाजारों का औपचारिककरण Formalization, श्रम बल में महिलाओं की भागीदारी और गिग और प्लेटफॉर्म वर्कर्स का श्रम बाजार में भूमिका.

•  Sindhu Darshan was scheduled from June 19 to 27 this year.

• Sindhu Darshan Festival is a festival held in Leh, Ladakh, India. The festival is held every year in June on the full moon day of Guru Purnima. 
• On this day, devotees gather near the banks of the Indus River, which is known as the Sindhu River in India.
• केंद्रशासित क्षेत्र लद्दाख में 19 जून, 2021 से ‘सिंधु दर्शन महोत्सव’ का आयोजन किया जाना है।

• साथ ही यह महोत्सव आम जनमानस को सिंधु नदी के बारे में जागरूक करता है और देश की सांप्रदायिक एकता के प्रतीक के रूप में इसके महत्व को बढ़ावा देता है। 
• यह त्योहार हर साल जून में गुरु पूर्णिमा के दिन आयोजित किया जाता है।

• This satellite has joined the previous seven groups in orbit that were launched after 2017.

• The main contender to the PM post, Sher Bahadur Deuba who is the chief of the main opposition Nepali Congress, had informed his allies shortly ahead of the deadline that he would not be able to put together a coalition government with a majority in the House.

• The formal withdrawal by Sher Bahadur Deuba left no other option for the President but to invite Oli to form a government again.

• The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that the low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea will intensify into a cyclonic storm, which has been named "Tauktae" by May 16.

• The name has been given by Myanmar which means "gecko".

• Cyclone Tauktae will also lead to heavy rainfall in several isolated parts of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu from May 15, the IMD warned, adding that it will move towards Gujarat and adjoining Pakistan coasts around May 18.

• भारतीय मौसम विभाग (IMD) ने चेतावनी जारी की है कि दक्षिण-पूर्व अरब सागर में बना कम दबाव का क्षेत्र तेज होकर  चक्रवाती तूफान का रूप ले सकता है जिसे  "Tauktae" नाम दिया गया है।

• यह नाम म्यांमार द्वारा दिया गया है जिसका अर्थ है "गेको"gecko (छिपकली) ।

• IMD ने चेतावनी देते हुए कहा कि चक्रवात "Tauktae" से केरल, कर्नाटक और तमिलनाडु के कई अलग-अलग हिस्सों में 15 मई से भारी बारिश होगी और यह तूफान 18 मई के आसपास गुजरात और उससे सटे पाकिस्तान के तटों की ओर बढ़ेगा।
