Q1. Issac Herzog elected as the new President of which country?

• Issac Herzog was elected president in a landslide vote winning support from 87 of 120 Knesset members. 

• Herzog, 60, beat educator Miriam Peretz to replace President Reuven Rivlin, who was elected in 2014 to the largely ceremonial position decided by the parliament, or Knesset.

• Herzog is slated to replace President Reuven Rivlin, whose seven-year term ends on July 9.

• Herzog was first elected to parliament in 2003, but was most recently leading the para-governmental Jewish Agency for Israel

• The theme of  World Environment Day 2021 is “Reimagine. Recreate.Restore.

• ”Ecosystem restoration means healing nature and reversing the damage caused by humans. 

• This World Environment Day will also kick off the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), a global mission to revive billions of hectares, from forests to farmlands, from the top of mountains to the depth of the sea.

• UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and Food & Agriculture Organisation of UN (FAO) launched ‘UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration’ report for 2021-2030 and called on nations to meet commitments of restoring 1 billion hectares of land.

• विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस हमारे पर्यावरण की रक्षा के लिए दुनिया भर में जागरूकता और कार्रवाई को प्रेरित करने के लिए मनाया जाता है। यूनाइटेड नेशनल असेंबली ने 1972 में विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस की स्थापना की थी|

• In the women’s category, India is ranked ninth. The Netherlands women’s team is leading while Argentina are second.

• Australia climbed to third position while Germany slipped to fourth position

• It has recently come to light that Scholarships will be given to students in Italy in the name of Disale.

• बिहार में मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने राज्य के इंजीनियरिंग और मेडिकल कॉलेजों में छात्राओं को 33 प्रतिशत आरक्षण देने का फैसला किया है|

• इस निर्णय से छात्राएं उच्च और तकनीकी शिक्षा के प्रति अधिक प्रेरित होंगी।

• This is the second expert committee on minimum wages formed by the government in the last two years.

• Last panel was headed by Anoop Satpathy and was set up by ministry on January 17, 2018. It conducted an evidence-based analysis to determine the methodology of fixing the national minimum wage.

• The project readiness financing (PRF) will help in connecting the major district and other roads with the national and state highway network.In 2011, ADB-funded North Eastern State Roads Investment Program was launched to improve road connectivity in Sikkim.

• The state agencies will prepare detailed engineering designs of selected sub-projects and do feasibility studies.

• Sikkim’s road network requires regular upgradation due to frequent landslides and erosion.

•     एशियाई विकास बैंक (एडीबी) और भारत सरकार ने सिक्किम में प्रमुख जिला सड़कों का उन्नयन करने हेतु परियोजना तैयार करने और डिजाइन संबंधी गतिविधियों में आवश्यक सहयोग देने के लिए 2.5 मिलियन डॉलर के परियोजना तैयारी वित्तपोषण ऋण समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए|

•  ऋण समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर होने से सड़कों और पुलों की समुचित योजना और डिजाइन के माध्यम से  (कनेक्टिविटी) को बेहतर करने  में आवश्यक सहयोग मिलेगा जिनसे इस राज्य में आर्थिक विकास की गति तेज करने और दूरदराज के गांवों में लोगों की पहुंच को बेहतर करने में मदद मिलेगी।
