• Suresh Prabhu, India's Sherpa to the G-20 and G7, attended the second virtual meeting of Sherpas from the Group of Seven (G7) and guest countries on (March 30).

Additional Information:  The G7 is an intergovernmental body that includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom.

• He succeeded in 1989 in creating the world’s first blue LED.

• The government has approved a commission under the National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building, also known as ‘Mission Karmayogi’, to train civil servants at all levels.

• Former Quality Council of India (QCI) chief Adil Zainulbhai has been appointed as the chairperson of this Commission, while Ramaswami Balasubramaniam has been appointed as member (HR) and Praveen Pardeshi as a member (administration).

• 'Mission Karmayogi', dubbed as the biggest bureaucratic reform initiative, was announced by Prakash Javadekar last year and approved by the Union Cabinet in September, to make government employees more "creative, proactive, professional and technology-enabled", ending the culture of working in silos and ensuring transparency.

• The government had appointed him as a deputy governor in March 2017 when Urjit Patel was the governor 

• He also served as the head of regional offices of the Reserve Bank in Jaipur and Kolkata, besides holding the position of the banking ombudsman for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
