• The day also honoured more than 4,000 peacekeepers who had lost their lives while serving the organization since its inception in 1948.

• UNGA passed a resolution to designate 29 May as the International Day of UN Peacekeepers to mark the establishment of the first UN Peacekeeping mission on 29 May 1948.

• Theme for International Day of UN Peacekeepers 2021 is "The road to a lasting peace: Leveraging the power of youth for peace and security."

• To mark the Day, a virtual ceremony was held at which Dag Hammarskjold medal was awarded posthumously to peacekeepers who lost their lives in 2020 and in January 2021.

• Three Indian peacekeepers are among 129 military, police and civilian personnel honoured with the Dag Hammarskjold medal.

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र अंतरराष्ट्रीय शांति सैनिक दिवस हर साल 29 मई को शांति स्थापना में शांति कर्मियों के योगदान को मान्यता देने के लिए मनाया जाता है।

•  He was speaking at an event hosted by the media house, India Today, in 2012.

• The CMS Secretariat said that it had become aware of a video clip recently and found the comments made in the video to be “offensive”. 

• It said that they “did not reflect the values” of the CMS Secretariat or the United Nations.

• The organisation was unaware of the 2012 video at the time Hooda was appointed as a CMS Ambassador for Migratory Species in February 2020.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved measures under PM-CARES for Children scheme, including free education and an amount of 10 lakh rupees on attaining the age of 23.

• The beneficiary will be given a monthly stipend for five years from 18 years of age till he completes 23 years. 

• On attaining the age of 23, the full amount of 10 lakh rupees will be transferred to the beneficiary for his professional or personal use. 

• Under this scheme, children under 10 years of age will be given admissions in Kendriya Vidyalayas and private schools whereas provision has been made for educating kids between 11 to 18 years of age in residential schools including Sainik Schools and Navodaya Vidyalayas. 

• Expenditure on uniform, textbooks and notebooks for beneficiary kids will be done through PMCARES Fund. Students going for higher education will also be assisted to get education loans and scholarships.

All children beneficiaries will be enrolled under Ayushman Bharat Scheme with a health insurance cover of five lakh rupees, the premium for which will be paid by the PM CARES Fund. 

• कोविड महामारी में अपने माता-पिता गंवाने वाले बच्चों की मदद देने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने पीएम केयर्स बाल योजना के अंतर्गत कई कल्याणकारी कदमों को मंजूरी दी।

•  इन बच्चों को निशुल्क शिक्षा और 23 वर्ष की आयु होने पर दस लाख रुपये दिए जाएंगे। 

•  इन बच्चों को सहयोग देने और इनके संरक्षण के लिए देश हर संभव कदम उठाएगा, जिससे इनका भविष्य उज्जवल हो और वे एक मजबूत नागरिक बन सके। 

• वे सभी बच्चे, जो अपने माता-पिता या कानूनी अभिभावक या दत्तक माता-पिता महामारी के कारण खो चुके हैं, उन सभी की प्रधानमंत्री केयर्स बाल-योजना के जरिये मदद की जाएगी।

• इस कोष में 18 वर्ष की आयु तक पी एम केयर्स फंड द्वारा योगदान दिया जायेगा। 
• लाभार्थी बच्चों को 18 वर्ष की आयु से 23 वर्ष पूर्ण होने तक पांच वर्ष के लिये मासिक सहायता धनराशि भी दी जाएगी।
