• Project DANTAK was established on April 24, 1961 as a result of the visionary leadership of His Majesty the Third King and then Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru.

• DANTAK was tasked to construct the pioneering motorable roads in the Kingdom.

• DANTAK completed the road connecting Samdrup Jongkhar to Trashigang in 1968.

•  In the same year, Thimphu was connected to Phuentsholing by DANTAK. 

• Some other notable projects executed by the project include the construction of Paro Airport, Yonphula Airfield, Thimphu – Trashigang Highway, Telecommunication & Hydro Power Infrastructure.

• भूटान में हाल ही में दंतक परियोजना की डायमंड जुबली मनाई है। 

• 24 अप्रैल, 1961 को भूटान के महामहिम तीसरे राजा और तत्कालीन भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री जवाहर लाल नेहरू के दूरदर्शी नेतृत्व के परिणामस्वरूप प्रोजेक्ट दंतक की स्थापना की गई थी।

• दंतक ने 1968 में समद्रुप जोंगखर Samdrup Jongkhar को त्रासीगंग Trashigang से जोड़ने वाली सड़क को पूरा किया था। उसी वर्ष, थिम्फू Thimphu को दंतक द्वारा फुंटशोलिंग Phuentsholing से जोड़ा गया। परियोजना में पारो हवाई अड्डे, योनफुला एयरफील्ड, थिम्फू - त्रासीगंग राजमार्ग, दूरसंचार और हाइड्रो पावर इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर, शेरुबसे कॉलेज, कांग्लुंग और इंडिया हाउस एस्टेट का निर्माण शामिल है।
• भूटान में भारतीय राजदूत श्रीमती रुचिरा कंबोज ने 24 अप्रैल, 2021 को सिम्टोखा के दंतक स्मारक में एक पुष्पांजलि अर्पित की।  यह भारत और भूटान के बीच दोस्ती के बंधन को मजबूत करने में दंतक के कर्मियों द्वारा किए गए बलिदान के लिए एक श्रद्धांजलि थी।

• Researchers have dubbed it “The Unicorn,” because it was found in the constellation Monoceros – “The Unicorn.” 

• The findings were published on April 21, 2021, in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

• The Unicorn is about three times the mass of our sun – tiny for a black hole. 

• This black hole is 1,500 light years away from Earth, still inside the Milky Way galaxy.

• Justice Bindal will assume charge from April 29.

• Justice Bindal hails from Punjab & Haryana High Court where he was appointed judge in 2006.

•  He was appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Common High Court for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh on December 8, 2020.

• Later, he was transferred to the Calcutta High Court on January 5, 2021.

• World Malaria Day is observed on April 25 every year by the WHO.

• 2021 Theme: “Reaching the Zero Malaria target”.

• The identified 25 countries will work by responding to the dual threat of malaria and COVID-19. The WHO is to provide technical guidance and specialised support to these countries under the initiative.Three of the identified countries were from Africa namely Eswatini, Botswana and South Africa.
• The World Health Organisation launched the E-2020 initiative in 2017. The E-2020 aimed to support a group of countries to achieve zero indigenous cases of malaria by 2020. However, certain countries are yet to achieve this target.

Additional Information: A UN-led global immunization strategy was unveiled to reach more than 50 million children by 2030 who have missed lifesaving jabs against measles and other diseases because of COVID-19 disruption.

• WHO द्वारा अपनी ‘ई-2025 पहल’ (E-2025 Initiative) के तहत ऐसे 25 देशों की पहचान की गई है जिन्हें वर्ष 2025 तक मलेरिया मुक्त देश बनाना है।

• In its report on trends in global military expenditure in 2020, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has found that the world’s top military spenders — the US, China and India — saw their military spending go up compared to 2019, even during a pandemic year.

• Last year, the US spent a total of $778 billion, China spent $252 billion and India’s military expenditure was $72.9 billion. 

• While India’s spending since 2019 grew by 2.1 per cent, the increase for China was more moderate, at 1.9 per cent. 

• The US saw a 4.4 per cent growth over its 2019 expenditure.
