Q1. The 19th edition of joint naval exercise “Varuna" has been conducted between which two countries?

• The challenges posed by the covid-19 pandemic notwithstanding, India and France commenced their annual “Varuna" joint naval exercise with large-scale drills in the western Arabian Sea.

• The three-day exercise is scheduled to close on 27th April. 

• This is the 19th edition of the exercise and “involves the participation of the French Navy aircraft carrier, Charles de Gaulle, and its entire carrier strike group.

• कोविद -19 महामारी से उत्पन्न चुनौतियों के बावजूद, भारत और फ्रांस ने पश्चिमी अरब सागर western Arabian Sea में बड़े पैमाने अपने वार्षिक "वरुण" संयुक्त नौसैनिक अभ्यास का आयोजन किया।

• यह तीन दिवसीय अभ्यास 27 अप्रैल समाप्त होगा|
• यह अभ्यास का 19 वां संस्करण है और इसमें फ्रांसीसी नौसेना के विमान वाहक,Charles de Gaulle और इसके पूरे वाहक समूह की भागीदारी शामिल है। 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: हाल ही में राफेल लड़ाकू विमानों की पांचवीं खेप फ्रांस से भारत पहुंच चुकी है. 

इस खेप में चार राफेल लड़ाकू विमान हैं.

ये चारों विमान 8000 किलोमीटर की नॉन-स्टॉप उड़ान भरकर भारत पहुंचे हैं. जानकारी के मुताबिक, ये विमान गुजरात के जामनगर एयरबेस पहुंचे हैं|

वायुसेना प्रमुख‌ राकेश कुमार सिंह भदौरिया (19  से 23 अप्रैल) तक  फ्रांस की आधिकारिक यात्रा पर थे|

• Zhurong is on board the Tianwen-1 Space probe.

• With Zhurong, China will become the third country after Soviet Union and USA to achieve a soft landing on Mars.

•  Also, it will become the second country to put a rover on Mars after the US.

• Zhurong weighs 240 kilograms and is solar powered.Zhurong carries multispectral cameras and instruments to analyse the composition of the rocks.

• बिहार कैडर के 1977 बैच के आईपीएस अधिकारी, अरुण चौधरी ने लगभग दो दशक तक इंटेलिजेंस ब्यूरो (IB) में सेवा की, जहां उन्होंने जम्मू और कश्मीर डेस्क का नेतृत्व किया।

•   दिसंबर 2012 में, उन्हें SSB का महानिदेशक नियुक्त किया गया और 30 अप्रैल 2014 को सेवा से सेवानिवृत्त कर दिया गया।
