• Seiko Hashimoto has been named the president of the Tokyo Olympic organising committee. 

• She replaced 83-year-old Yoshiro Mori, a former Japanese Prime Minister who was forced to resign last week after making sexist comments about women.

• Seiko Hashimoto appeared in seven Olympics — four Winter Olympics and three Summer Olympics. 

• She was until today the Minister for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, Minister in charge of Women's Empowerment, and Minister of State for Gender Equality in the Government of Japan.

• जापान के पूर्व ओलंपिक मंत्री सेइको हाशिमोतो को टोक्यो ओलंपिक आयोजन समिति का प्रमुख बनाया गया है।

• Uttar Pradesh government has decided to extend ‘Atal Bhujal Yojana' across the State. 

• The scheme was introduced as a pilot project in 10 districts Mahoba, Jhansi, Banda, Hamirpur, Chitrakoot, Lalitpur, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Baghpat and Meerut. 

• The state government decided to implement the scheme in the remaining 65 districts as well.

• Out of total 826 blocks in the state, the scheme was implemented in only 26 ground water-stressed blocks, but from April 1, 2021, all 826 blocks will be covered by this scheme, said the order.

• उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने अटल भुजल योजना ’को पूरे राज्य में विस्तारित करने का निर्णय लिया है।

• यह योजना पायलट प्रोजेक्ट के रूप में 10 जिलों महोबा, झांसी, बांदा, हमीरपुर, चित्रकूट, ललितपुर, मुजफ्फरनगर, शामली, बागपत और मेरठ में शुरू की गई थी।

• राज्य सरकार ने शेष 65 जिलों में भी इस योजना को लागू करने का निर्णय लिया हैं|
• राज्य के कुल 826 ब्लॉकों में से, यह योजना केवल 26 भूजल-तनावग्रस्त ब्लॉकों ground water-stressed blocks में लागू की गई थी, लेकिन 1 अप्रैल 2021 से सभी 826 ब्लॉकों को इस योजना द्वारा कवर किया जाएगा।

• हैदराबाद ने इस कार्यक्रम के दूसरे वर्ष में दुनिया के 51 अन्य शहरों के साथ यह पहचान अर्जित की है, जबकि अब तक मान्यता प्राप्त करने वाला भारत का एकमात्र शहर है ।

• Mizoram became a state with the implementation of North-Eastern Reorganization Act, 1972. 

• Arunachal Pradesh -In 1972, the state was called the North-East Frontier Agency. After the Reorganization act, 1972, Arunachal Pradesh remained as a Union Territory. It became a state in 1987.

• 20 फरवरी को, अरुणाचल प्रदेश और मिजोरम राज्य अपना स्थापना दिवस मनाते हैं।

• 20 फरवरी 1987 को अरुणाचल प्रदेश राज्य की स्थापना की गयी थी|

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone of Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge and performed the groundbreaking ceremony of Jorhat - Majuli Bridge. 

• He also launched the Mahabahu-Brahmaputra project. 

• The Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge over the Brahmaputra River will be the longest river bridge in the country. 

• It will connect Dhubri in Assam to Phulbari in Meghalaya. It will reduce the distance of 205 km to merely 19 km.

• The Jorhat-Majuli Bridge will help in providing connectivity to Majuli Island to other parts of Assam. 

• Majuli Island, the world’s largest river island, is on the Brahmaputra River.

• प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने धुबरी-फूलबाड़ी पुल की आधारशिला रखी |

• उन्होंने महाबाहु-ब्रह्मपुत्र परियोजना भी शुरू की।

• यह असम में धुबरी को मेघालय के फूलबाड़ी से जोड़ेगा। यह 205 किमी की दूरी को घटाकर केवल 19 किमी कर देगा।
• इसके अलावा जोरहाट-माजुली पुल Jorhat-Majuli Bridge असम के अन्य हिस्सों से माजुली द्वीप को कनेक्टिविटी प्रदान करने में मदद करेगा।

Additional Information: 

• Mahabahu-Brahmaputra project was launched with the Ro-Pax vessel service’s inauguration between Neamati-Majuli Island, North Guwahati-South Guwahati and Dhubri-Hatsingimari. 

• Under this initiative, tourist jetties at four locations and Inland Water Transport Terminal at Jogighopa will also be constructed.
• These projects will help in improving the connectivity and reducing the travel time in eastern states part of India.
• महाबाहु-ब्रह्मपुत्र परियोजना से बंदरगाह संबंधी विकास के माध्यम से ब्रह्मपुत्र से कनेक्टिविटी मजबूत होगी।  तीन Ro-Pax सेवाओं के शुरू हो जाने से असम इस पैमाने पर रो-पैक्स सेवाओं से जुड़ने वाला अग्रणी राज्‍य बन गया है। 
• यह,चार पर्यटक जेटियों Tourist jets के साथ पूर्वोत्तर के साथ असम की कनेक्टिविटी में महत्वपूर्ण सुधार करेगा।
